Aquarela do Brasil

by | Chord Melody

When it comes to Brazilian music, I’m sure you’re already aware that Jobim’s “Girl from Ipanema” easily takes first prize as the most popular bossa-nova worldwide! But how about the most popular samba? Most Brazilians agree it’s Ary Barroso’s “Brazil” known as “Aquarela do Brasil” in Portuguese.

I first learned this piece from 2 sources: Antonio Carlos Jobim’s version off his album “Stone Flower” , and my favorite to date, which is Joao Gilberto’s rendition off his album, “Amoroso”. These versions were my inspiration for my chord melody arrangement of this gorgeous composition, which I believe should be included in every jazz guitarist’s repertoire! Check it out !
