Easy Miles Blues Solo

by | Miles Davis

Miles DavisIf you’re a Miles fan, you’re in for a treat! In this lesson lesson in which I teach 2 choruses of his classic solo on “Blues by Five” off the Cookin album.

This is an ideal introduction to the concept of phrasing for the beginning jazz student. In addition, since it’s over a 12 bar blues, it’s short and to the point. But regardless of its simplicity and brevity, it also happens to be a masterclass in how to swing as well as how to use space between your lines. So even if you’re not quite a beginning jazz player, I’m sure you too can learn from it!
