A few weeks ago I posted a lesson titled “18 Bebop licks by Charlie Parker”. Here is a video doing the same, only that with some Wes Montgomery transcriptions!

In the Charlie Parker video I analyzed the makeup of 18 licks and showed you the architecture of a bebop line through a series of elements that all his phrases have in common. Using another carefully selected 18 licks, in this new masterclass I show you how Wes incorporated those same elements in his solos! I personally believe these phrases embody the essence of Wes’ melodic style.  As such, they are an invaluable study resource for any player seriously interested in learning his style!
