John Scofield’s Intervallic Style Licks

by | Jazz Improvisation, John Scofield

In this lesson we explore the use of wide intervals, sometimes referred to as intervallic improvisation. One of the jazz guitarists who has become best known for his frequent use of this concept, is none other than John Scofield.

In this 7 minute information packed video, you’ll learn 4 licks which contain all the essential intervals as well as the particular phrasing and articulation that characterize the Scofield style. By studying and practicing these II-V-I lines, you should eventually be able to come up with your own variations and start improvising in this style!
