Summertime Chord Melody

by | Chord Melody, Jazz Standards

In this lesson you will learn a chord melody with walking bass arrangement of a timeless standard by George Gershwin: “Summertime”.

This one works great at any tempo and is shorter in duration than most standards. So if you’ve been shying away from learning some fingerstyle chord melody due to technically demanding high tempos, not to mention the 32 measures of memorization required, this one might just be the one to try. The entire lesson video is under 5 minutes which is way shorter than anything I’ve posted in a long time.

The Summertime Files can be downloaded for $7.50 (buy me a cup of coffee and a snack?). Your contribution is much appreciated, as it helps support the site and allows me to keep investing the long hours required to produce these lessons. The download includes: a PDF of the arrangement with both regular notation and TAB, a Band In A Box file featuring the solo and rhythm section, a MIDI file of the piece, and 2 MP3s of the arrangement in a slow and fast tempo. .
