How Insensitive Chord Melody

by | Bossa Nova, Chord Melody

In this lesson I teach you a fingerstyle chord melody arrangement of “How Insensitive” by one of bossa nova’s most prolific composers…Tom Jobim!

In several interviews, Jobim mentioned his admiration for classical composer Frederic Chopin, so it isn’t a coincidence that “How Insensitive” greatly resembles  Frederick Chopin’s Prelude in E minor for piano. Consequently, before I play my arrangement , in the video I first play the melody of “How Insensitive” over a small portion of Chopin’s prelude so you can see how it served as a basis for this composition. If you were not already aware of this, I guarantee that you will gain new insight into Jobim’s piece as well as my take on it for solo guitar.

The How Insensitive Files can be downloaded for $7.50 (buy me a cup of coffee and a snack?). Your contribution is much appreciated, as it helps support the site and allows me to keep investing the long hours required to produce these lessons. The download includes: a PDF of the transcription with both regular notation and TAB, an MP3 of the arrangement, a Band In A Box file featuring the arrangement and rhythm section, and a MIDI file.
