Cantaloupe Island

by | Chord Melody

This lesson features a solo guitar arrangement of Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island”. If you know the tune, originally recorded in the mid 60’s, you’re probably aware that it was released again in the 90s as a remix and instantly became a hit among newer generations. That’s cause it’s cool, bluesy, funky and even danceable!

“Cantaloupe Island” is also a modal tune. It’s short…only 16 bars and consists of just 2 chords…Em7, C7 and C#m7! But trust me…once you get it down, you won’t stop playing it, regardless of what level you’re at.
