“Blue Moon” Chord Melody

by | Chord Melody

In this video I share two chord melody arrangements of “Blue Moon, the classic standard written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. The first is a solo unaccompanied chord melody arrangement, and the second is a more streamlined version that works equally well solo or with a rhythm section — with the flexibility to mix and match elements from both.

“Blue Moon” is built on the I-VI-II-V progression, one of the most essential harmonic sequences in jazz and the foundation of hundreds of standards. These chord melody arrangements explore various harmonizations of this must-know progression, making them a valuable addition to any jazz guitarist’s repertoire.
