Have you ever wished you could play on guitar some of those rich, colorful chord voicings, that you often hear in the music of jazz pianists like Bill Evans? I know I did for the longest time, however when I examined some piano transcriptions I found most of them physically impossible to reproduce on the guitar….that is, until I learned to combine open and fretted strings as a means to incorporate intervals of a minor second within chords.

In this video I you’ll learn a finger-style chord melody arrangement of “Blue In Green”…a gorgeous ballad originally recorded by Miles Davis on his classic “Kind of Blue” album. Throughout the lesson I teach you how to play several of the chords as clusters. These are “one of a kind” voicings which feature one or more intervals of a maj/min second. They also incorporate several nested upper extensions. These, by the way, are different varieties of 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths, tightly sandwiched between the basic chord tones.
